Pinocchio was Disney’s second animated feature film, after the success of 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It was also the first animated feature to win a competitive Academy Award. The official Pinocchio remake trailer is now out, revealing Disney’s live-action plan for the Italian children’s book as well as their own animated classic.

The official live-action Pinocchio trailer is a return to Disney’s vault of masterpieces, one that will undoubtedly rake in the cash while allowing the House of Mouse to recycle an idea rather than come up with something original. Disney has produced a series of live-action versions of its animated classics over the last seven years, beginning with Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, which also served as a sequel to the original film.

They went on to recreate Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, Aladdin, The Lion King, Lady and the Tramp, and Mulan, all of which have received mixed reviews but have been box office successes. Pinocchio tells the story of Geppetto, a good-hearted woodcarver who constructs the titular puppet and desires for it to come to life, nurturing him as his own kid.

Pinocchio, brought to life by The Blue Fairy, must learn the value of honesty as his nose grows larger with each lie while also struggling to become a real boy. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth voices Pinocchio in the live-action picture, which also stars Tom Hanks as Geppetto, Cynthia Erivo as The Blue Fairy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket, Luke Evans, Keegan-Michael Key, and Lorraine Bracco.
