Drake is not just a rapper, but also a successful entrepreneur in the country. Drake has established himself as an experienced gambler who has doubled up his money in the last few years, but predictability may not always work in his favor. Drake recently lost over $230,000 on a Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix bet, so he’s not bulletproof.

Drizzy gambled on Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc to win the Spanish Grand Prix, unfortunately, the Canadian rapper faced the loss of over $230,000. The Ferrari driver, who was leading the world championship when Drizzy placed the wager, lost the lead after an engine failure on Sunday afternoon.

Max Verstappen of Red Bull won the race in Barcelona and grabbed the championship lead over Leclerc. “First F1 bet, let’s see how it goes,” the “Money In The Grave” singer said on Instagram, admitting he wagered $300,000 Canadian dollars with cryptocurrency betting platform Stake.

Despite starting first on the grid and leading for the first 27 circuits of the Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain, Leclerc was unable to complete the race due to power unit troubles.

Drake is said to be friends with seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton who climbed up to fifth place in the Grand Prix after colliding with Haas driver Kevin Magnussen on the first lap. While this was the 35-year-old singer’s first F1 wager, he inspired Canadian driver Nicholas Latifi to adopt the number six as his permanent racing number.

“Toronto is widely referred to as ‘The 6,’ which is partly down to Drake, who’s also from Toronto. He mentions the name in one of his early songs, and one of his albums was originally called ‘Views from the 6’.”

Drake lost over $230,000, but it is unlikely that he will be affected because he has sponsorship ties with Stake. What are your thoughts on Drake’s betting interest? Stay tuned to Thirsty for more information.
