Dave Chappelle was back on stage again just hours after being attacked at the Hollywood Bowl. During his performance, a man ran onto the stage with a fake gun with a knife attached and tried to bull-rush the controversial comedian. A large group of Chappelle’s friends warmed the attacker, breaking his arm and busting his face up pretty badly in the process.

The man who tried to go after Dave Chappelle was quickly arrested. He has been held on $30,000 bail after being charged with assault with a deadly weapon. It was reported that the man has been identified as 23-year-old Isaiah Lee.

Dave kept his cool and hit the stage for a second performance at West Hollywood’s Pendry Hotel on Tuesday night. Audio from the event obtained by TMZ captured him addressing his attacker to the fans that evening. Dave said he feels good about his friends coming to his aid.

“I felt good my friends broke his arm. I felt good, how bad does a n*gga have to be that Jon Stewart would stomp him!”

Killing that n*gga would have been stupid.”

Dave Chappelle was grateful that his friends came to his aid. Nobody at the time knew that the gun was a fake. Anything could have happened had Lee been allowed to get to the comedian.

Things could have been a lot worse for both Isaiah Lee and Dave Chappelle. Fortunately, those gathered near the stage acted quickly and decisively. Now, Dave has a whole new story to build additional material around.
