Major League Baseball’s continuing problem with fights in the stands continues to get worse. After incidents in Denver, Los Angeles, and even in the minor leagues, another melee broke out during a game. This time, historic Wrigley Field in Chicago served as the backdrop.

As onlookers encouraged them, several Chicago Cubs fans got into a fist fight in the bleachers. The Cubs were playing their cross-town rivals, the White Sox, but the two main antagonists were both wearing Cubs gear. The reason for the brawl is unknown, but things quickly got out of hand.

A fan who was close to the fight recorded the entire thing on video. One fan was pinned to the ground by another. A different supporter was kicking someone in the head. Security could do little to stop the violence at first.

Eventually, things calmed down. One of the fans may have been left stranded. He can be heard yelling that one of those thrown out for the fight was his ride home.

It is not known if anyone was injured or arrested. The Cubs sent the fans who behaved themselves home with a loss. It was a bad night all around at Wrigley.

The huge rash of fights at major sporting events seems to get more prominent with each passing week. Major League Baseball is supposed to be a relaxed, family environment. Given what we have seen this year, a lot of fans have no respect for that tradition.
