Bill Gates, the Microsoft founder, ended his 27-year marriage with Melinda Gates last year.  After a year filled with healing from heartbreak, Bill opened up about his current working relationship with Melinda and expressed how he feels about the end of their marriage.

The power couple’s divorce was finalized in August 2021. They announced that despite their separation they would continue to run their foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, together. They share three children together, Jenner, Rory and Phoebe.

The billionaire Microsoft co-founder, who is 66, said in an interview published on Sunday by UK’s The Sunday Times that he does not regret saying “I do” to Melinda in January 1994. He shared that, “Every marriage as the kids leave the house will go through a transition. Mine sadly went through this transition called divorce,”

Bill asserted despite all the up-and-downs from his point of view, “it was a great marriage. I wouldn’t have changed it. You know, I wouldn’t choose to marry someone else.” However, considering his newly single status, Bill revealed he does not have his sights set on walking down the aisle a second time.

“I marry Melinda all over again. In terms of my future, I don’t have any plans, but I highly recommend marriage,”

The former couple, who wed in Hawaii after dating for seven years, called it quits in May 2021. Bill and Melinda said in a joint statement at the time, “After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage.”

The news of the split between the two coincided with a report by Wall Street Journal that alleged Bill Gates of having an affair with a Microsoft employee back in the year 2000.  An investigation on the matter was launched after the details regarding the affair started circulating in 2019.
