Vanessa Bryant lost her two family members in a tragic helicopter crash over two years ago. Her daughter, Gigi Bryant, who died alongside her father, Kobe Bryant, would have been 16 years old today. Vanessa is commemorating her late daughter’s life on a special occasion.
Gigi Bryant was born on May 1, 2006, so today would have been her 16th birthday. For this occasion, Vanessa Bryant and Daughter Natalia paid tribute to their late family member in separate Instagram posts.
Vanessa dropped two separate posts to remember Gigi. In one, she included a moving video with a touching voiceover she did herself.
“Dear Gianna, from the first time you imagined winning a WNBA championship, I knew one thing was real — you were special. You came from greatness, but it was never about what you inherited. It was about what you gave to others.”
She continued, “When someone stands up for gender equality, I see you standing up alongside them. And every time someone plays her hardest, I know that’s you on the court. Love you always, basketball.”
“Love you always! Happy Birthday, Gianna. 😘❤️🥰 #Mambacita #2 ❤️❤️.”
Natalia shared a throwback photo of herself as a child with Gigi and wrote, “happy sweet sixteen my dearest Gigi♥️I love you to the moon and back forever & always.”
Gigi was only less than four months away from her 14th birthday when she died. The father and daughter duo are greatly missed by their family and the world alike. To keep their memories their lives will always be celebrated.
