The Smiths have taken a lot of flak in the press and from the general public in recent months, but they’ve kept going. The latest season of Red Table Talk has arrived, amidst the Academy Awards slapping scandal that has rocked Hollywood. It seems Willow Smith opened up about the time she had to forgive Jada Pinkett Smith.

It doesn’t appear that the family will be having an in-depth conversation about Will Smith hitting Chris Rock during the Oscars, but Willow Smith has spoken with Ireland Baldwin, daughter of Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin, about her struggles with anxiety as a child. Baldwin and Smith sat down for a one-on-one interview, where they discussed the difficulties of being the children of superstars while also dealing with mental health issues.

Smith admitted that she had to “forgive” her mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, for dismissing her anxiety and failing to take her seriously. They have, however, since spoken openly about the subject.

Whew. It was rough. I feel like when I was growing up, she didn’t understand my anxiety. Cause she, growing up, had seen her friends die. She had been through so much stuff that my issues to her kind of felt, like…  And that was very frustrating for me as a child, because I was like, ‘How can you not see my internal and emotional struggle?’ But really recently, we had a talk, and she was like, ‘I never knew that I actually experience anxiety.’ And she was pushing it down and pushing it down for so many years, like, she had no idea. So, I kind of had to forgive her a little bit for being like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get it, but it’s really not that bad.’

Recently, a letter resurfaced online which was supposedly written by Willow Smith to Tupac. The letter states that Willow knows he is “alive someplace” and asks him to “come back so mommy and me can be happy.” Elsewhere, Will faced stiff criticism from fans and industry insiders alike. The veteran actor was handed a 10-year ban from The Academy. Meanwhile, you can watch the Red Table Talk episode below.
