Harry Styles Used To Feel ‘So Ashamed’ About Having A Love Life

Harry Styles began his musical career as a solo contestant on the British music competition series The X Factor in 2010. Following his elimination, he was reintroduced to the boy band One Direction, which went on to become one of the best-selling boy bands of all time before taking an indefinite hiatus in 2016. Harry recently opened up about his sex life and what it was like to be in One Direction while dating.

In a new interview with Better Homes and Gardens, the 28-year-old entertainer opened up. During his One Direction days, Harry Styles did not want people to know about his sex life. “For a long time, it felt like the only thing that was mine was my sex life.”

The X-Factor heartthrob, who is now 28 continued to say, “I felt so ashamed about it, ashamed at the idea of people even knowing that I was having sex, let alone who with.” Styles admitted that “there were still the kiss-and-tell things” while performing with the boy band from 2010 to 2015.

“Working out who I could trust was stressful,” he explained. “But I think I got to a place where I was like, ‘Why do I feel ashamed? I’m a 26-year-old man who’s single.’ It’s like, ‘Yes, I have sex.’” The style icon, who has been dating actress Olivia Wilde for over a year, also told the outlet that he has no plans to publicly discuss his sexual orientation, which has long been a source of speculation among fans.

On signing his first solo contract, Harry said, “I felt free.”

“I’ve been really open with it with my friends, but that’s my personal experience, it’s mine.”

“The whole point of where we should be heading, which is toward accepting everybody and being more open, is that it doesn’t matter, and it’s about not having to label everything, not having to clarify what boxes you’re checking.”

After being photographed together at his agent’s wedding in January 2021, the “Watermelon Sugar” singer sparked dating rumors with Wilde, who is 38. Wilde was recently spotted dancing in the crowd at Coachella while her beau performed.
