Elon Musk is the world’s richest man, and he now owns one of humanity’s most important modes of communication. Yes, the man who has the potential to become a real-life Batman antagonist now owns Twitter. Almost everyone on the internet, even Twitter’s former CEO, Jack Dorsey, has an opinion on Elon Musk’s historic $43 billion purchase of the platform this week.

The 45-year-old began by expressing himself through a Radiohead track before writing a moving message about current circumstances. Dorsey chose “Everything in Its Right Place” as his song, which has garnered him 28K likes and counting. After that he penned down his thoughts.

Elon’s goal of creating a platform that is ‘maximally trusted and broadly inclusive’ is the right one. This is the right path… I believe it with all my heart. It wants to be a public good at a protocol level, not a company. Solving for the problem of it being a company however, Elon is the singular solution I trust. I trust his mission to extend the light of consciousness.

Clearly, Dorsey agrees with Musk’s plans. He repeated earlier that evening that this is the right approach and he believes it with all his heart. However, he emphasized that in principle, he doesn’t believe anyone should own or govern Twitter. The 45-year-old said in another post that All that matters to him is the concept and the service, and he will go to any length to defend both.

His only gripe with Twitter has always been that it is a for-profit enterprise. Dorsey went on to say that Wall Street and the ad model have owned the platform, and he believes that taking it back is the correct first step. He is happy Twitter will continue to serve the public conversation around the world, and into the stars. He concluded saying the he loves Twitter and it is the closest thing we have to a global consciousness. Check out the tweets below.
