Elon Musk promised that his purchase of Twitter would result in less censorship. Many conservatives have argued that the social media giant silenced them as they posted mistruths and false science regarding the 2020 election and COVID-19. Now that Musk has a deal in place to buy the company, many are already testing the waters.

The word “Ivermectin” began trending shortly after the deal was announced. Thousands of conservative Twitter users who believe the anti-parasitic drug can treat COVID and that claim they were being automatically banned for even saying the word began posting about the would-be wonder drug. Studies have shown time and time again that Ivermectin does not effectively treat COVID-19. Many also slipped in other conservative talking points, including some transphobic comments to go along with their horse paste.

“I just saw a friend of mine post something that should’ve got her banned. Now is my time! Men can’t get pregnant and ivermectin works!”

“Ivermectin always worked, masks never worked, natural immunity always worked and the vaccine is a failure. Prove me wrong?”

“Ivermectin works. Thanks Elon.”

“Big Pharma suppressed Ivermectin because it’s cheap and effective ($1 for a week of pills). (Let’s see if Twitter thought police censor this under Elon Musk’s rule)”

Millions of dollars have been used to study the effects of Ivermectin. No trustworthy scientific results have come out supporting its use as a treatment for any virus. Still, the agenda of misinformation continues to spread with no credible evidence to back it up. Meet the new Twitter, same as the old Twitter.
