The Rock is one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood. The former WWE superstar has churned out hit after hit. He even owns a football league. Dwayne Johnson has had a stunning amount of success, given his roots as a grappler.

The latest film project for The Great One will be an adaptation of a popular video game. “It Takes Two” won the 2021 Game of the Year at the Game Awards. Millions of people have enjoyed the co-op experience.

The movie will be produced by The Rock and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions along with Amazon, according to Variety. The adaptation tells the story of May and Cody, a couple going through a divorce who has their consciousness transported into two dolls made by their daughter. It sounds like a wild concept, but it has already proven to be a huge hit.

The writers for the film have some video game experience as well. Pat Casey and Josh Miller wrote the scripts for the highly successful Sonic the Hedgehog and its sequel. Some thought was put into the team for “It Takes Two.”

The studio is treating the film as a priority. There isn’t much chance this one winds up in development hell. With The Rock’s name attached, it is likely to be another huge hit.

Video game adaptations aren’t always well-received by fans. Sonic the Hedgehog was, and Johnson and Garcia were smart enough to seek out that writing team. Video game fans expect a lot. Dwayne Johnson is hoping to deliver for them.
