Nicolas Cage’s participation in various film genres during the 2010s increased his popularity and earned him a cult following. Cage is currently filming Renfield, in which he plays the iconic vampire Dracula opposite Nicholas Hoult, who plays the titular Renfield, a henchman of the wicked monster in Bram Stoker’s original 1897 novel Dracula. It seems he responded to the rumor about buying a bat-cave.

Nicolas Cage responded to the idea that he had bought a bat-cave. This week, Jimmy Kimmel brought the star of Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent on his late-night show. There were many shenanigans, but none more so than those involving his crazy lifestyle.

Diane Kruger recently appeared on the show and said that her National Treasure co-star made the outrageous impulse purchase. Cage claims, however, that he did not buy the cave, but rather visited one in North Dakota. The four key elements are covered in the actor’s story, as well as the word spelunking and a mention to Ghost Rider.

I like that you’re asking me this questions, because I get to use one of my favorite words, spelunking. I had an interest in exploring all the elements. You know? I got my certificate on the Great Barrier Reef. I explored the element of water. Air? I didn’t really get as far as I wanted to. I wanted to be a hang glider. It didn’t happen. Fire? I felt like Ghost Rider. I has explored the element of fire. For Earth, I thought, ‘Yeah, I want to start spelunking. I want to start exploring caves.’ I think we were in North Dakota in the black hills when we were shooting one of the treasure movies. I said, ‘I hear there’s a cave for sale. Let’s go look at it!’ And I did. It was beautiful, and this is good for 420 right? All these stalagmites. And it was all like milky quartz, like crystalline walls. I thought, you know at the time I was married, and I was like, ‘I’d like to buy this and just go down in the bottom of the cave and get totally naked with my wife and drink my glory. In the bottom of a cave in the earth. Needless to say, I didn’t buy the cave.

To be honest, it’s been a bit of a journey. Cage, on the other hand, was delighted to be asked the question and given the opportunity to clear the air. With so many previous projects and press reports circling the celebrity, it’s not often that he gets to openly answer these rumors. See what he had to say in the video below.
