Dwayne Haskins tragically passed away when he was hit by a truck while walking a Florida highway. Details were scarce in the immediate aftermath of the passing of the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback. New audio from a 911 call from Haskins’ wife revealed further details.

Sports radio host Andy Slater received the audio from that fateful call. Kalabrya Haskins phoned for help about ten minutes after speaking to her husband on April 9. Haskins told the dispatcher that Dwayne called her from the side of the road and was stranded and looking for gas. There was panic in her voice.

“I kept calling and kept calling. He wasn’t answering. Eventually, after 10 minutes of calling the phone, eventually it cut off. It’s not working now. I had his location. I just want somebody to go in the area and see if his car is there and if he’s OK and if anything happened to him.”

The dispatcher eventually told Kalabrya that there was a known incident on that area of highway. They were unable to confirm at the time if it involved Dwayne Haskins. Kalabrya Haskins was able to put two and two together.

It has been a tragic time for Kalabrya Haskins and her family. Dwayne Haskins was a promising and talented young man who was beloved by his teammates. This terrible audio captures just how awful it must have been to find out about his terrible death.
