Megan Thee Stallion captivated the entire Coachella festival audience with her incredible performance on Saturday. However same cannot be said about the Chinese audience.

As you may know, China has very strict censorship rules, which indeed means western pop culture events are incompatible with the country. That did not stop Chinese fans from illegally streaming Megan’s festival performance.

Megan’s performance was streamed on the Chinese social media platform, Weibo, and messaging app, WeChat. Naturally, the moments from the show transgressed the censorship rules. However, the in-built censor in the app failed to do its job correctly and is now being laughed at by many.

The said apps tried really hard to keep up with the dancers and Megan while they performed her hit single “WAP.” For those who don’t know, the censor tries to put black bars on what it deems to be indecent. It turns out that WAP was just too vulgar for the censor. To be fair, the song is unreasonably filthy.

Since the app failed to censor anything, the black bars danced left and right, as seen in the clip below. As a result, the entire experience was ruined for the fans. Users expressed their disapproval of such laws in the comments. That being said, China won’t be stopping with its restrictive rules any time soon.
