The Shining is based on Stephen King’s 1977 novel of the same name and stars Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Scatman Crothers, and Danny Lloyd. Jack and his family relocate to a remote motel with a tumultuous history. As a result of his solitude, Jack begins to lose his sanity, which has an impact on his family. There’s a renowned piece of horror movie history offered for sale but you’ll need some serious cash.

The axe from Stanley Kubrick’s classic “The Shining” is up for sale. The axe is well known for sequences near the climax of the movie. The most iconic is when Jack Nicholson’s character uses it to smash down a wooden door, setting up his iconic phrase, “Here’s Johnny!!!”

Nicholson’s character, Jack Torrance, carries the axe into the maze at the end of Kubrick’s film. He trudges through the snow to find his son, Danny. There’s also a scene in the bowels of the haunted hotel where Jack uses the axe to kill Scatman Crothers’ character, Dick Hallorann, by striking him in the chest.

The axe prop is still in extremely good shape, according to the auction company. It’s placed in a shadow box frame with photographs of it in action in the film. Presently, it’s estimated to fetch at least $100,000.
