Steve Austin appeared on the KO show at WrestleMania 38 night 1. He then fought Kevin Owens in a no-holds-barred match and emerged as a victor. Former WWE commentator Jim Ross had a chance to catch up with Austin and shared his views on the bout.

Jim Ross talked about Austin’s WWE WrestleMania 38 match against Kevin Owens on a recent episode of his Grilling JR podcast. He said Austin was really happy the way match turned out.

“He and I talked going into that thing and we communicated on Saturday after the show. He seemed to be really happy and almost relieved that they pulled it off.”

Ross thinks Owens and Austin deserve a lot more credit than they got for the match. He also pointed out that Austin hadn’t been in-ring for 19 years, and despite that, he was able to perform really well.

“He and Kevin Owens deserve a hell of a lot of credit for what they did. To show you what kind of ballplayer Austin is, he hadn’t been on the field for 19 years or something like that and he didn’t look like he missed a step.

They kept the match in their lane. I thought that was really smart how they strategized and laid out that match. It was just absolutely a masterpiece in my view, and Kevin Owens deserves a lot of credit as well. You gotta have a dancing partner to make these things work, and Steve had a great dancing partner.”

A short while ago, Matt Hardy also shared his opinions on the match, stating that he feels Owens was the perfect wrestler to face Steve Austin. Owens built his feud with Austin, and it concluded at the big event. Now we wait to see what’s in store for him next.
