Baker Mayfield has had one of the toughest offseasons of any NFL player. The Cleveland Browns made a shocking move when they seemingly gave up on Mayfield, signing Deshaun Watson to take over the reins at quarterback. Baker thinks the franchise misled him.

Speaking on the “Ya Never Know” podcast, Baker Mayfield took a stand against his current team. The once-promising QB said he felt disrespected by the Browns when they signed Watson. Baker said the team misled him into believing that he was still in their future plans.

“I feel disrespected 100% because I was told one thing and they completely did another.”

Baker Mayfield demanded a trade when he learned that the Browns were interested in Deshaun Watson. The team was initially turned down by Watson and Mayfield was told he was still the starter. Deshaun changed his mind and signed a huge $230 million fully guaranteed contract.

Mayfield is still a member of the Cleveland roster. The team has been trying fruitlessly to trade him. Baker is due to make $18.8 million this season. After a terrible year, no NFL franchise seems willing to take that kind of risk.

It will be interesting to see what happens between the Browns and Baker Mayfield. Mayfield is already talking like his time in the city is finished. Cleveland may have a major albatross on their hands if they can’t move him before next season starts.
