Rey Mysterio was advertised as this week’s opponent for Veer Mahaan. Fans were instead treated to a one-sided squash that saw Dominik Mysterio leaving Monday Night Raw in an ambulance. The WWE Universe has been wondering where Rey was during the chaotic scene.

Wrestling promotions are often accused of false advertising under the umbrella of, “Card subject to change.” That was not the case with Rey Mysterio not showing up for his scheduled match with Veer. It was a medical issue that kept Rey away from Detroit.

Dave Meltzer discussed Rey Mysterio’s absense on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. Mysterio was unable to compete due to the medical issue. The squash with Dominik set up a future match once Rey is able to wrestle again.

“It’s a medical issue. It wasn’t false advertising or they changed their minds. He was unavailable tonight. So they put Dominik in the place and Dominik just got destroyed. They could probably do Rey in a week or two.”

The situation has now been turned into a storyline. Rey will likely come back seeking to avenge the injuries Veer caused to Dominik. That match will take place, unless something changes when Rey has recovered.

Things are always subject to change in pro wrestling. The Women’s Tag Team Championship match was also made into a singles match after Rhea Ripley was placed into COVID protocol. Hopefully, Rey Mysterio is feeling better soon and we can see him take on Veer Mahaan.
