Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar to unify the WWE and Universal titles in the main event of WrestleMania 38. Many fans speculated that Reigns may have been injured in the bout due to its short length and awkward ending. Roman had been selling a shoulder injury during the match, and many bought his acting.

WWE promoted the title unification match as the biggest match in WrestleMania history. The short length of the contest left some wanting more. Given the hype, a lot of people assumed something had to have gone wrong.

Dave Meltzer recently appeared on the Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast. There, the rumors were addressed. There was no injury to Roman Reigns, and the match went as planned.

“That’s not even true. That was the match. That was the match that was laid out. That’s the nature of the way they put Lesnar matches together which is boom boom boom, big move big move… It was not a bad match by any means. It was a Brock Lesnar match, no different from many others.”

Short, explosive matches have been Lesnar’s forte. That is exactly what the pair delivered. Some might not have been happy with the way the match unfolded, but it wasn’t because of an injury.

Roman Reigns walked out of WrestleMania healthy. Reigns is also now the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Everything went exactly as planned as Reigns’ run at the top continues.
