Vanessa Hudgens gained mainstream recognition for her role as Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical film series. Hudgens signed a recording contract with Hollywood Records following the success of her first film, Thirteen. Vanessa recently stated that she is no stranger to paranormal activity, claiming that she has had “a lot” of encounters with spiritual beings.

During a new interview, the “High School Musical” star claimed that she had “a lot” of encounters with ghosts over the years. “I’ve accepted the fact that I see and hear things,” she said on Tuesday’s episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” Hudgens also shared one of her first paranormal encounters.

“The unknown is scary. But I recently was like, ‘No, this is a gift and something that I have the ability to do, so I’m going to lean into it.’”

“I remember getting ready for school when I was 8 years old, and there was, like, you know those ducks that you pull [the string]? It’s a toy. There was one of those on the dining room table, and I started walking, and it just started going alongside me.”

The former Disney Channel star then revealed that she recently completed her “first real paranormal investigation,” during which she discovered that her “favorite” piece of equipment is a “spirit box,” which analyses “radio frequencies really quickly.” “Something about the electricity that it creates allows spirits to speak through it,” she explained.

In March 2011, Hudgens told People that she was visited by a spirit while filming “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” in North Carolina. “North Wilmington is one of the oldest, most haunted places in North America,” she said at the time, claiming she tried to chase the unearthly presence.

“I was chasing around my ghost for, like, 10 minutes solid, and then it got way too freaky, and I just left. I feel like [the ghost] might have lost a husband at war and she’s waiting for her man to come back to her.”

“It was definitely a female spirit. I could tell.”
