Taylor Hawkins’ legacy was felt at the Grammy Awards in 2022. Hawkins tragically passed away on March 25th, at the age of 50. Following the death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, Billie Eilish paid tribute to him at the 2022 Grammy Awards, when the band won three awards.

At the ceremony, Billie Eilish performed her song “Happier Than Ever” while wearing a shirt with Hawkins’ face on it. She yanked the shirt as a reminder of Hawkins’ death as she finished her performance with her brother, Grammy nominee Finneas, by her side.

At the time of his death, the drummer was living at a hotel in Chapinero, a neighborhood of Bogota, Colombia’s capital. Colombian officials are examining the circumstances to obtain thorough explanation of the facts that led to the musician’s death, according to a statement.

A toxicological examination revealed that Hawkins had multiple chemicals in his system, but they were unable to identify the cause of death. Hawkins, Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Nat Mendel, Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffee of the Foo Fighters were scheduled to perform at the 2022 Grammy Awards, but they cancelled all forthcoming appearances, including their South American tour.

Eilish is one of several musicians who have paid tribute to Hawkins since his death. Violet Grohl, Grohl’s own daughter, sang a pre-Grammys tribute to Hawkins, singing Joni Mitchell’s “Help Me” at the MusiCares Person of the Year gala on Saturday, April 2. Check out Eilish’s picture below.
