Caitlyn Jenner made a name for herself in television, film, writing, auto racing, business, and as a Playgirl cover model. The transgender athlete, reality figure, and past candidate for governor of California, has joined Fox News Media as a contributor. Jenner will make her first appearance on Hannity on Thursday.

However, the hiring comes as several of the network’s stars have criticized The Walt Disney Company for opposing a Florida law that prohibits kindergarten through third-grade students from discussing their sexual orientation or gender identity in the classroom. Detractors have nicknamed the measure the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed it this week.

Fox News has cited Disney more than 250 times since Wednesday morning, according to Lis Power, director of media intelligence at progressive watchdog Media Matters for America. Caitlyn’s story is an inspiration according to Fox News Media CEO. She is a trailblazer in the LGBTQ+ community and her illustrious career spans a variety of fields that will be a tremendous asset for their audience. Jenner also made a statement.

I am humbled by this unique opportunity to speak directly to Fox News Media’s millions of viewers about a range of issues that are important to the American people.

However, LGBTQ advocates regard the bill as part of a long history of discrimination against the LGBTQ community, frequently for political reasons and often based on the premise that they are a danger to children. The Briggs Initiative, which attempted to prohibit gays and lesbians from teaching in California schools in 1978, was defeated at the polls. Harvey Milk was one of the leaders of the anti-abortion movement, which included then-President Jimmy Carter and future President Ronald Reagan.
