Caitlyn Jenner and Lady Gaga have recently reminded us all that celebs are just like us. At the Oscars, Lady Gaga appeared to have an awkward encounter with Caitlyn Jenner.

Caitlyn Jenner ran into the “House of Gucci” star outside the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s 30th annual Academy Awards viewing party on Sunday night and boldly mentioned that she hadn’t seen the singer in a long time at their local Starbucks. “Are you spending time around Malibu anymore?” Jenner asked in a video shared by journalist Bahman Kalbasi, to which Gaga replied, “Yes.”

When Jenner said, “I haven’t seen you at the Starbucks in a while,” the singer replied, “I’ve switched baristas,” before walking away, evidently with the intention of never having to see Jenner again. The bizarre interaction quickly went viral, with some comparing Gaga’s excuse to Mariah Carey’s iconic “I don’t know her” diss.

“‘I’ve switched Baristas’ will now be my excuse for everything,” one admirer wrote on Twitter. “‘I’ve switched baristas’ is literally the most polite way of saying ‘If I ever see you again it’ll be too soon,’” wrote another. “Not Caitlin [sic] Jenner telling Gaga ‘I haven’t seen you at the Starbucks in a while’ PLS,” a third user remarked.

Neither Gaga nor Jenner has spoken publicly about the now-viral incident. However, the “Stupid Love” singer skipped the Oscars 2022 red carpet in favor of John’s annual gala, but she did make it to the Oscars to award Best Picture alongside a wheelchair-bound Liza Minnelli.
