Will Smith created a wave of controversy at Sunday night’s Oscar 2022 ceremony. The “King Richard” star shocked the audience when he got up on stage and slapped Chirs Rock after he made a bald joke aimed at Jada Pinkett Smith. It appears, the comic powerhouses are going to work it out post-Oscars.

Page Six reports that Will and Chris are expected to work out their issues following the infamous slap incident at an event after the Oscars. The pair are expected to attend the annual Vanity Fair Oscars bash, but it’s unclear if they’ll make amends before or during that soirée.

Sources told the outlet, that moments after Smith “smacked the s–t” out of Rock, security immediately started strategizing because Smith had 20-plus attendees in his party. Sean “Diddy” Combs, who took the stage after the incident, had to pivot his speech and “went back up to lift the room.”

According to the outlet, Diddy talked to both Smith and Rock who agreed to make amends later in the evening. Smith ended up winning the Best Actor role in “King Richard” minutes after he assaulted Rock.

Smith said during his acceptance speech that, “Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family,” He added, “In this time in my life, in this moment, I am overwhelmed by what God is calling on me to do and be in this world.”

Making this film, I got to protect Aunjanue Ellis, who was one of the most strongest, most delicate people I ever met. I got to protect Saniyya (Sidney) and Demi (Singleton), the two actresses that played Venus and Serena. I’m being called on in my life to love people and to protect people and to be a river to my people.”

Smith didn’t mention the “Grown Ups” star by name throughout his emotional speech but vaguely hinted to their on-screen scuffle and apologized to everyone but Rock. He said, “I want to apologize to the academy. I want to apologize to all of my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award,” Meanwhile, we will be on the lookout for more updates. Stay tuned to Thirsty.
