Will Smith stunned the world when he slapped Chris Rock in the face during the Oscars last night. Some speculated that the exchange was staged, however this was not the case. Smith was incensed after Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia, which resulted in the smack that has since gone viral.

This is one of those historic times, and as you could expect, there are a variety of viewpoints on the situation. After all, any kind of show like this is bound to attract the think-piece crowd. Last night, Stephen A. Smith was watching the Oscars and was disturbed by the discussion between Smith and Rock.

The camera then caught the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” alum slapping Rock onstage, and as he returned to his seat, he shouted to keep his wife’s name out of his jokes. The presenter of First Take even took to Twitter to express his displeasure with Will’s actions.

I just saw the RAW footage. @willsmith should be ashamed of his damn self. It was a G.I. Jane joke. Total B.S. If it were @TheRock or someone like that instead of @chrisrock would he have done that sh-t! Total BS by @willsmith. If his night is ruined because of this he deserves it. The man has Denzel & Bradley Cooper trying to calm him down. For what? A joke about his wife in G.I. Joe? Come on! The sh-t was embarrassing! A very very bad look! Love Will. But not after this B.S.

Rock ascended the stage just before the commercial break to present the Academy Award for Best Documentary. The comedian joked about Pinkett Smith before revealing the finalists. Smith laughed off the joke at first, but Pinkett Smith appeared to roll her eyes.

Smith then went on to make a video detailing his feelings about the situation. Whatever the circumstances surrounding the smack, he was clearly disappointed with the actor, and that won’t change anytime soon. Check out Stephen A. Smith’s series of tweets blasting Will Smith below.
