Robert Pattinson played Edward Cullen, the iconic vampire who fell in love with Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart. Twilight was directed by Catherine Hardwicke and was based on Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling fantasy novel of the same name. Now new information has come to light about how the studio really felt about the two stars of the franchise hooking up for real.

Twilight Studios didn’t want Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson to date, according to Ashley Greene, who played Alice Cullen in the popular films. During a recent interview with Kast Media for The Twilight Effect, Greene revealed that the filmmakers were concerned that their relationship would have a negative impact on the star’s chemistry on screen.

“The studio advised against it. They saw how successful ‘Twilight’ was and the last thing they want is for the couple to get together and then hate each other and then the chemistry to be gone and that’s it. So I kind of get that. But at the same time, you’re put in these situations where it’s an epic love story and it’s difficult not to catch feelings in those situations.”

Greene said in a recent interview with Insider that the costars developing romantic feelings for each other was “only natural” given how much time they spent together over the course of several years.

Prior to and during the filming of “Twilight,” Stewart was in a relationship with her “Speak” co-star Michael Angarano. Greene stated that Stewart and Pattinson were together during the filming of the second film, “New Moon.”

“They’re in these really intense situations and as an actor, you find something about that person to fall in love with. So it kind of made sense. But they’re also great actors, so all day every day, they’re supposed to be in love and so it’s not like they had to hide much.”

Pattinson and Stewart, known as Robsten, dated for a few years before breaking up shortly before the final instalment of the franchise, “Breaking Dawn: Part 2,” was released in November 2012. Stewart was caught on camera kissing Rupert Sanders, the married director of her film “Snow White and the Huntsman.”

Following the cheating scandal, Stewart and Pattinson reconciled briefly before splitting permanently in 2013. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
