Donald Glover is widely known by his stage name Childish Gambino. He is a legendary multi-talented actor, rapper, singer, writer, comedian, director, and producer. He recently announced that he has hired Malia Obama to write for his new show.

Barack Obama’s daughter is going from the White House to the writers’ room. Donald Glover has confirmed that Malia Obama has been hired as a writer for his upcoming Amazon series, tentatively titled “Hive.” Glover confirmed the news to Vanity Fair on Friday, insisting that the former first daughter wasn’t a beneficiary of nepotism.

“She’s just, like, an amazingly talented person. She’s really focused, and she’s working really hard.”

While most struggling screenwriters toil away for years trying to get a break in Hollywood, Malia, who only graduated from Harvard last year, had a seemingly quick ride. The wunderkind previously interned on Lena Dunham’s HBO series “Girls” in 2015 and at the Weinstein Company in 2017, just before Harvey Weinstein was imprisoned on rape and other charges.

Stephen Glover, Glover’s brother, is also working on the upcoming Amazon series.

“I feel like she’s just somebody who’s gonna have really good things coming soon,” Stephen similarly fawned over Malia’s abilities while speaking to Vanity Fair. “Her writing style is great,” he further gushed. “Donald always says perspective is important, and people with different perspectives are important for a writers’ room. And for sure, she definitely has a unique perspective on everything.”

The series’ specifics have yet to be revealed. However, Insider reported last month that the show could centre on a “‘Beyoncé-like figure.” Malia’s new job isn’t the Obamas’ first foray into the television industry. Barack and Michelle Obama signed a deal with Netflix in 2018 that was estimated to be worth $50 million. Malia moved to Los Angeles late last year to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

Her younger sister, Sasha, is also said to be in La La Land, having transferred to USC after two years at the University of Michigan. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
