Gable Steveson was once again unstoppable on the road to his 2nd NCAA wrestling national championship. The competition had no chance as Gable defeated Arizona State’s Cohlton Schultz by a score of 6-2. The victory left no doubt that Steveson is the greatest of his generation.

Steveson is an Olympic gold medalist as well. Gable took home the gold in Tokyo last summer. With two collegiate titles, there is nothing left to prove for the Minnesota Golden Gophers grappler.

After winning his championship bout, Gable Steveson symbolically left his shoes in the middle of the ring. In both amateur and pro wrestling, this gesture means the end of a career. Gable confirmed to ESPN that he is retiring from the sport as he celebrated his victory.

“I’m done. I did what I came to do. I was going to win the Olympic gold and win the national tournament again.”

Gable Steveson will now set his sights on superstardom. Steveson is expected to join WWE full-time now that his college career is over. Gable is hoping to follow in the footsteps of amateur greats like Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar, both of whom had enormous success in pro wrestling.

Steveson’s run of dominance on the mat may never be equaled. Gable Steveson has the WWE Universe salivating over his athletic potential and natural charisma. Someday we could see him raising the WWE Championship at WrestleMania.
