Grey’s Anatomy is currently one of the longest-running television shows out there, with its 18th season going strong right now. The show made its debut in 2005 and was a smash hit with fans and critics alike. It remains ABC’s most popular drama.

Throughout its duration, the show has featured several characters being killed off or actors leaving the show. It was reported earlier that fan-favorite Jesse Williams confirmed that he was going to leave the show and that happened on an important episode last year. On top of that, even Greg Germann left the show as a series regular.

Jesse Williams portrayed Jackson Avery and became an instant hit with fans. His final scene saw Avery leave Seattle for a new job in Boston. Since then fans wondered if it is truly the end of Jackson Avery.

While speaking with The New York Times, Jesse Williams talked about his decision to leave Grey’s Anatomy after 12 seasons. William revealed that he ultimately felt too safe working in the show and wanted to get out of his comfort zone.

“I knew that as I designed my exit, the next thing I did had to be terrifying. I needed to get out of my comfort zone, I needed to go into a very unknown place.”

Jesse Williams previously expressed interest in a spinoff about his character. We will have to see what is next in store for Williams after his exit from Grey’s Anatomy and whether the spin-off will become a reality one day.
