Chief Keef’s music first gained popularity among Chicago’s South Side high school students during his teenage years in the early 2010s. He amassed a great following along the way. His life is great, but it is not without sadness. Keef recently experienced another heartbreaking loss when his grandmother passed away.

Margaret Louise Carter, Keef’s grandmother passed away. The Chicago-bred rapper took to Instagram and expressed his grief over the sudden death of his beloved “granny,” writing a heartfelt tribute to the woman who helped raise him.

“Im so happy i got to make you proud granny never thought this would happen to me, cant believe my grammy just dipped on me, ima miss you too much and im sorry grandma i really i am. i would give all this shit up just to start over because i know what to do now.”

“LOUISE sorry about everything i took you through growing up. I hope heaven got facebook for you. I thought you would live til atleast 98 granny!”

Chief Keef’s message was accompanied by a slew of photos and videos, including footage of him buying his grandmother a brand new Range Rover and a recent photo of him hugging her.

“if i woulda knew that christmas hug was our last hug i woulda held on longer granny i woulda not let you go no where. Ill always remember you dont like ‘fixing to’ ima be like nike on everything im doing and ima ‘just do it.’”

Keef also revealed that he used his music earnings to help make his grandmother’s life easier, writing, “Oh yeah, I retired my granny 11 years ago.” Chief Keef’s Instagram post drew thousands of messages of support from fans, including Chance The Rapper, Mike WiLL Made-It, G Herbo, Lil Reese, and Tadoe.
