Alec Baldwin made headlines after accidentally firing a gun on the set of “Rust,” killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Alec does not appear to be ready to accept responsibility for what he has done. According to court documents, Halyna instructed Alec to cock the gun before shooting.

According to TMZ, Alec Baldwin claims that his “Rust” contract protects him from prosecution in the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins, and he goes on to blame her for the incident. Baldwin’s attorneys filed an arbitration claim, claiming that his agreement absolves him of any financial liability in connection with Hutchins’ death. Baldwin’s legal fees, according to the lawyers, must also be covered by the production.

According to the documents, Baldwin claims Hutchins is the one who instructed him on how to position the gun, saying, “She directed Baldwin to hold the gun higher, to a point where it was directed toward her. She was looking carefully at the monitor and then at Baldwin, and then back again, as she gave these instructions.”

According to the lawyers, “in giving and following these instructions, Hutchins and Baldwin shared a core, vital belief: that the gun was ‘cold’ and contained no live rounds,” the lawyers continued. The attorneys also claimed that when Baldwin asked Hutchins if she wanted him to pull back the hammer, Hutchins said yes.

Baldwin’s interactions with Hutchins’ husband, Matthew, are mentioned in the documents shortly after the shooting. According to the actor’s lawyers, when Hutchins hugged Baldwin, he said, “I guess we’re going to go through this together.” That relationship ended when Baldwin appeared on ABC News and not only absolved himself of responsibility but also blamed Halyna.

According to the documents, it is the armorist’s responsibility to check a gun for live ammo, not the actor’s. Regarding liability as a result of Baldwin’s Executive Producer title, his lawyers claim that his contract protects him. As previously reported, there were numerous safety concerns on the set, prompting some of the crew to stage a walk-off.

Matthew Hutchins and his son have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Baldwin and others. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
