Rey Mysterio Had No Idea He Was WWE 2K22 Cover Star At First

Rey Mysterio is a true veteran in the world of professional wrestling and he is proud of his luchador heritage and legacy. He has wrestled all around the world in numerous promotions over thirty years and is truly a legend for many. It seems he explained how he became the cover star for the WWE 2K22 video game.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Rey Mysterio will be the cover star for the WWE 2K22 video game. This was met with a mixed reception at first but ultimately, people accepted it as Mysterio more than deserves being on the cover.

While speaking to Complex, Rey Mysterio talked about how he came to know about being the cover star for the WWE 2K22 video game. Mysterio admitted he didn’t understand he would be the cover star at first when he was told about it.

“So WWE first approached me in regards to doing some promotional work for the game. And I guess I didn’t understand it right off the bat? But I swear they didn’t tell me that I was going to be on the cover of the game, or that it was going to be based around me.

But slowly, as I was shooting and doing promotions, the bomb just hit,” said Rey Mysterio, “and they were like, “You know, this is based on you. You are the cover of the game this year.” I was like, “Oh no way. Damn, that’s cool. That’s dope.”

The showcase mode of the game focuses on key matches from Rey Mysterio’s career and allows fans to relieve them or experience them for the first time. It is certain to be a highlight of the game and that is what matters in the end.
