Conor McGregor fractured his ankle at the end of the first round of his UFC 264 fight against Dustin Poirier. Since then McGregor has been on a path of destruction that resulted in McGregor saying a lot of controversial remarks. It seems Islam Makhachev commented on Conor McGregor’s status UFC future as well.

The Notorious One has been hard at work recovering from his injury over the past several months and has noticeably bulked up in anticipation of his return, though Dustin Poirier thinks he looks puffy. McGregor also never won a single fight in 2021.

Conor McGregor recently made it clear that he wants a shot at Charles Oliveira’s UFC Lightweight Championship once he returns to the Octagon and fans got excited about it as well.

While speaking to ESPN MMA, Islam Makhachev stated that he believes Conor McGregor will never be able to become a title contender ever again.

“I think this fake. For the fans that make some interesting. But I think this fake. It’s gonna be hard for him make 155 [pounds] because he drunk all days and lot of people are gonna smash him in this situation. He just gonna fight versus Nate Diaz or you know, some old people, for make some money and that’s it. He’s never gonna be champion. He’s never gonna be compete this level.”

Dana White also recently said that Conor McGregor is nowhere near for a UFC Title fight just yet. Conor McGregor is expected to make his return by the Summer of this year, especially in July. We will have to wait and see if he will end up getting a title shot somewhere down the line or not.
