Aaron Rodgers said he would have a decision this week about his NFL future. Fans around the league wondered if the future Hall of Fame quarterback would stay in Green Bay with the Packers or move on to another team. We now have an answer to that question.

Ian Rapoport reported that Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have agreed to a huge deal. Rodgers will become the highest-paid player in NFL history under the terms of the new 4-year, $200 million contract. $135 million of that money will be guaranteed.

“The #Packers and MVP QB Aaron Rodgers have agreed to terms on a 4-year, $200M deal that makes him the highest paid player in NFL history, sources say. He gets a whopping $153M guaranteed and his cap number goes down. A monstrous commitment by GB for years to come.”

Fans in Pittsburgh, Denver, and other quarterback-hungry cities will be disappointed by the news. Green Bay fans should be thrilled. Aaron Rodgers will be staying with the Pack for a long time to come.

The cap-friendly portion of the contract also helps. The Packers front office will be able to use some of the newly-freed money to find even more weapons for an already dangerous offense. Aaron Rodgers might not be done winning Super Bowls in Wisconsin.

It was an exhausting season for Rodgers. Controversy over his vaccination status made him an uncomfortable media target for much of the year. Aaron split from his wife, Shailene Woodley. Now that his contract is settled, Aaron Rodgers can once again focus fully on bringing another Lombardi trophy to Green Bay.
