LeBron James has not been shy about discussing the Los Angeles Lakers’ struggles this season. The team has played with no chemistry. The Lakers are on the verge of missing the playoffs. King James has said that for some reason, this season is just different.

With the team struggling defensively and finding it impossible to win since the All-Star break, LeBron did what great players do. James took the team on his back and led them to an improbable victory over the Golden State Warriors. James dropped 56 points in the winning effort.

LeBron James said the individual stats don’t matter to him in his post-game interview. The Lakers’ star is just happy that his team got a win. Desperation was the name of the game on this night as L.A. tries to salvage their season.

“Our guys were following me off the floor tonight going into the locker room and they asked me, ‘How does it feel to score 56? I said, ‘Right now, I don’t give a damn about the 56. I’m just happy we got a win.’ That’s just literally the first thing that came to my mind.”

The Lakers were inspired by LeBron James’ performance, pulling out a 124-116 come from behind victory. With time running out on the season and the Lakers sitting with a 28-35 record, they will take anything they can get. LeBron and company are chasing the rival LA Clippers for the last playoff spot in the west.

It will take more than one Herculean effort to lift the Lakers back into the playoff hunt. The team can only take it one game at a time. LeBron James’ huge performance is a good starting point, but there is plenty of work left to be done.
