Reddit has now joined in on breaking its ties with Russia amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Ever since Putin attacked Ukraine on the 24th of February, many corporations worldwide have expressed their disapproval of it.

The social news and community site Reddit has announced they have banned users who shared links to Kremlin-affiliated outlets like RT, Sputnik, and many more.

Reddit released the following statement on how they have extended the ban of Russian links across all geographical locations.

“While many communities on Reddit already prohibited links to Russian state media outlets like RT, Sputnik, and their foreign-language affiliates, we have made such restrictions universal across the site in all geographies,”

Additionally, Reddit also said that they provide all the required funds to their employees affected in Ukraine due to the Russian invasion. Reddit will provide advanced income payments, housing allowances, and support their relocation.

Reddit said they will “continue not to accept advertisements that target Russia or originate from any Russia-based entity, government or private.”

The blog post made on March 2 by Reddit stated:

“The conflict in Ukraine has been shocking and upsetting,” “Recognizing that this is first and foremost a human tragedy, we have been working to ensure that those in our community and colleagues who are impacted by these events have the support that they need during this difficult time.”

The popular discussion-community site has joined the likes of Netflix, Tiff, Spotify, YouTube, and many other corporations and Institutions that have suspended Russian-related content and their operation in their territory.
