Kanye West has been surrounded by controversy for many months now. While the beef between West and Pete Davidson is no news, Kanye West has taken the next step at making his hatred of Davidson extremely explicit.

The rapper recently released a music video where a Pete Davidson lookalike is seen getting kidnapped, tied up and being buried alive. While many people have been unable to contain their outrage over the video, director and writer James Gunn has stepped in to defend Davidson.

James Gunn took to Twitter in order to back Davidson up amid his ongoing back and forth with Kim Kardashian’s estranged husband and rapper, Kanye West. He noted many good things about him, and called him “one of the nicest, sweetest guys” he knows.

Pete Davidson has previously worked with James Gunn previously on DC’s saving grace and critically acclaimed, The Suicide Squad. While Davidson is a smaller role within the film, his promotional activity was immense following the premiere of the flick.

For the record, Pete Davidson is one of the nicest, sweetest guys I know. A truly generous, tender & funny spirit, he treats everyone around him with respect.

Kim Kardashian apparently liked the tweet that Gunn sent out in Davidson’s defense. Kanye West has been extremely hostile towards Davidson following his divorce proceedings. While he previously made the 28-year old comedian delete his Instagram account, his current romantic interest, Chaney Jones, looks like Kim Kardashian’s exact doppelgänger.
