Cain Velasquez’ impending legal trouble has gone from bad to worse. The former UFC heavyweight champion is being held in custody after allegedly shooting a man on Monday. Velasquez will face several additional charges in addition to the gunfire.

TMZ Sports obtained court documents related to the Velasquez case. Inside, it was revealed that multiple charges are being levied against the retired fighter. Some of them are very serious.

Velasquez followed 43-year-old Harry Goularte, who was charged with molesting a “close relative” of Cain at a daycare run by his mother. The confrontation resulted in Cain Velasquez shooting the stepfather, who was not the intended target. Velasquez was later pulled over and arrested.

Police found a 40-caliber semi-automatic in Velasquez’ truck. There were two ten-bullet magazines also recovered. Eight bullets were missing in total.

The ten charges filed against Cain Velasquez include attempted murder in the 1st degree, assault with a deadly weapon, shooting an occupied vehicle, and more. Cain now faces decades in prison if he is convicted on all counts.

Cain Velasquez will now have to await his day in court. It is not likely that the MMA star will be released during this time due to the violent nature of his alleged crime. Time will tell if there is any legal justification that can defend Velasquez from the criminal charges.
