The Los Angeles Lakers have been suffering through a miserable season. LeBron James and company haven’t found any team chemistry. The team just can’t string together wins despite an enormous amount of talent.

That kind of downfall largely falls on the team’s general manager. For the Lakers, that is Rob Pelinka. One would think it would be impossible to not recruit a winning team to L.A. with all the star power combined with the glitz of Hollywood. Pelinka has been having a tough go of it.

Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report recently noted that most GMs around the NBA can’t stand Rob Pelinka. Rob’s background as a player agent rubs owners and executives the wrong way. In addition, many say he has an attitude problem. One anonymous assistant general manager explained their interactions with Pelinka in a very unfavorable light.

“He was an assh*le as an agent. He had the most powerful players and if he wanted the player moved, he would’ve eviscerated you as a staff to get whatever he wanted. You can’t do that to people, and then expect them to work with you when you join their side.”

Rob Pelinka has had plenty of success with the Lakers. The fact that the team has fallen off so sharply does have many fans concerned. The local sentiment is that if the Lakers miss the playoffs, Pelinka should be fired.

There are plenty of problems with the Los Angeles Lakers. They start at the top. Pelinka put the team together. The GM may have precious little time to rebuild from what is left.
