Nicki Minaj is one of rap’s most outspoken personalities. Nicki is never afraid to tell her fans what she thinks. Minaj considers herself a trendsetter who doesn’t like to follow the beaten path.

That individuality has brought huge success to Nicki’s career. Minaj has worked with Kanye West as well as other stars from the worlds of pop and hip hop and released a string of massive crossover hits of her own. Younger musicians should have every reason to listen when Nicki Minaj offers advice.

Nicki recently sat down for an interview with Joe Budden. The two haven’t always seen eye-to-eye in the past, but the “Super Bass” star is sure to turn some heads with whatever they said. In a preview released by Budden, Nicki offered her thoughts on trend-chasing musicians.

“You know, once anybody has success with anything, everyone seems to jump on that sound even if they may have not even liked it. It might be people behind them telling them to do it.

Once you do that and once you do it a couple times, who then are you? We’ve now forgotten who you are. I don’t think people realize that if you jump on every trend, you become faceless.”

It takes more than just musical talent to make it as big as Nicki Minaj has in the music industry. Individuality plays a huge part. If Nicki had her way, the days of hip-hop trend chasers would be over.
