Ukrainians are picking up arms in order to defend themselves against the Russian troops. Many volunteers have taken up arms to defend their country, including former Miss Ukraine Anastasiia Lenna. Lenna, who won the Miss Ukraine pageant in 2015, revealed on Instagram that she had joined the country’s battle against Russian forces.
Lenna, a public relations manager in Turkey, captioned the photo with the hashtags “stand with Ukraine” and “hands off Ukraine.” It’s not the first time she’s been seen holding a weapon, and other posts appear to show her practicing with weapons in forested arenas and indoor training grounds.

Many citizens are waiting for guns at recruitment stations in Kyiv to prevent Russian forces from capturing their cities. Yarina Arieva and Svyatoslav Fursinb, a newly married couple who joined the ranks of the municipal territorial defense on February 26, are among the volunteers who have taken up arms.
On February 25, 2022, the pair married in Kyiv. Kira Rudik, a Ukrainian legislator who has also taken up arms, has uploaded many photos of herself holding guns. Apart from regular folk, Ukrainian political figures have also taken up arms after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that anybody who wants to defend the country will be furnished with weapons.
