An outpouring of support for Kelly Smiley rolled in after she suffered a horrible accident while photographing the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl victory parade. The NFL photog took a terrible spill from the stage at the end of the route. It was later revealed that Smiley suffered a fractured spine.

A GoFundMe was set up for Kelly to help pay for her hospital bills and to offset the cost of equipment that was damaged in the fall. Matthew and Kelly Stafford offered to take care of the medical bills themselves. That was all before a major scandal broke out.

Several alleged tweets that used racist and homophobic language attributed to Kelly Smiley went viral on social media. Many wondered what would happen to the nearly $50,000 that was raised by the GoFundMe. That fundraiser has now been halted by the organizer with no explanation.

“The organizer has currently disabled new donations to this fundraiser.”

The most recent update came on February 18. Organizer Tim Kothlow thanked everyone who donated for supporting Kelly. No mention was made of the tweets.

We will have to wait and see whether GoFundMe will allow a release of the money. The Staffords are now caught between a rock and a hard place, as they will look bad whether they pull their offer or not. The rest of the money is in limbo, and many surely would not have donated if they knew about Kelly’s alleged racist past.
