The first two Paddington movies received surprising critical acclaim. The first film scored 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. The sequel did even better, garnering a 99% rating. The movies have become beloved pieces of family cinema.

Paddington star Ben Whishaw recently confirmed the movie during an interview with the BBC. Ben was asked if Paddington 3 was still moving forward. He confirmed that production will begin before the end of 2022.

Whishaw also shared a story about what it’s like to meet kids who love Paddington. Children are often confused when he presents as a human. They don’t understand that he is only Paddington’s voice.

It’s very disappointing. Occasionally a parent will point out me to a child and I can see the bafflement on their faces, because how can I possibly be Paddington?

“It doesn’t make any sense to them. And to try to explain that I’m the voice of Paddington is even more confusing for their minds. Bless them.”

The latest sequel in the unexpected hit series is on the way. Fans will have to wait a while longer than originally expected. When filmmakers are facing such high expectations, it’s probably best that they take their time.
