The nominees for the 2022 Oscar Awards were announced earlier today. The news creates an annual buzz where water cooler talk becomes heated as movie buffs talk about how their favorite flicks got screwed out of a nomination. This year is no different.

Several huge names were in films that received Academy Awards nominations but failed to garner their own. Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio starred in the hilarious Netflix comedy “Don’t Look Up.” There wasn’t a single nomination between them. The film itself received four Oscar nominations, including the coveted Best Picture.

Jennifer Hudson got no love for her performance as Aretha Franklin. Musical biopics are notoriously Oscar-friendly. The film didn’t receive any nominations this year.

Dune got the second most nominations of any movie. The Academy didn’t think much of the flick beyond the technical aspects. Director Denis Villeneuve didn’t get a Best Director nod.

Each year’s Oscars bring with them another round of fans complaining that superhero movies aren’t represented. Spider-Man: No Way Home got selected for a Best Visual Effects nod. The best picture movement failed to gain traction.

Bradley Cooper, Nicole Kidman, and several others also failed to see their Oscar dreams become a reality. There has been plenty of controversy over these notable snubs. Fans will have to tune in on March 27 to see who winds up winning.
