NASCAR has not been known to have the most progressive audience. Its athletes sometimes don’t fall far from the same tree as the fans. The sport has never been known to attract much of an urban following.

The Busch Light Clash at the LA Coliseum was part of an effort by NASCAR to shed the redneck image they have carried through most of their existence. NASCAR approached the task in a big way. Los Angeles legend Ice Cube performed during the race.

Cube busted out several hits from the past. The performance was met with shock and surprise from many who were following the race. The entire situation gave viewers a weird vibe. Most of them enjoyed the performance despite their confusion.

“Never in a million years did I think I’d see this at a NASCAR race, but I’m absolutely here for it.”

“Two things I realized today: 1. Out-there ideas are the ones that make the biggest impact. Kudos to everyone who had a hand in making the #BuschLightClash a reality. 2. @C_Rice1 is the biggest @icecube fan in the garage.”

“This guy in his Viagra jacket hanging in the stands with his friends listening to Ice Cube and watching NASCAR is living his best life. We envy you”

“I’m not sorry to whoever doesn’t like this but you can’t tell me that NASCAR Halftime with Ice Cube performing inside the Los Angeles Memorial Colosseum isn’t dope af So here for this.”

NASCAR got the kind of attention they were looking for. Ice Cube is a god in Los Angeles. We might start to see more of this type of crossover shortly.
