Manchester United’s star forward, Mason Greenwood, was arrested last week on suspicion of rape and assault. Nike has now distanced itself by ending their deal with him. The 20-year-old wonderkid was recently accused of threatening to sexually attack and kill a woman on social media.

The repercussions were immediate as he was afterwards barred from training or playing for his team. At the time, Nike put a hold on Mason’s contract, stating that the company was very troubled by the allegations and would closely watch the situation.

The Swoosh went even further on Monday, announcing that “Mason Greenwood is no longer a Nike athlete.”

Manchester United announced last week that the club was aware of the situation with Greenwood. Man. U will conduct its own independent inquiry into Mason’s allegations. They will not make any further comment until the facts have been established.

The club declared that Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind. Greenwood was granted bail, but he is still prohibited from training or playing for the team until further notice. Keep an eye on Thirsty for further updates on the story.
