Gigi Hadid’s mother Yolanda Hadid was a “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast member through the show’s third to sixth season. Yolanda’s children, Gigi, Bella and Anwar would occasionally show their faces on the show when their mother was a cast member. Recently, Gigi opened up about her experience with taping of the show.
Us Weekly reported, Gigi shared that she did not enjoy filming “RHOBH” while speaking to InStyle for the outlet’s March 2022 issue. During the interview, the supermodel explained she was a “crazy, ecstatic volleyball player” when she was a child. She stated, “I was that loud voice. I loved sports, I loved being on a team, I loved school and my friends. That’s what comes naturally to me,”
Furthermore, the 26-year old said she did not appreciate the fact that her mother became a “RHOBH” star as it changed people’s perception of her. She hated when people recognized her through her mother’s celeb status.
“But when people first started to get to know me, it was like, ‘Oh, her mom was [Yolanda Hadid] on [‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’]. That is her life.’ But that wasn’t my life or a part of my growing up. My mom wasn’t on TV until I was a senior in high school, so I was just on my way out of the house,”
Gigi further said she would hide from the show’s production team. She revealed when she got back from school there would be production trucks outside her house so she would “scale the staircase” to her room to avoid saying hi to her mother in the kitchen. She revealed that she would use having to “do homework” as an excuse to not be around the camera crew.
It’s safe to say the model will never grace the sets of “Real Housewives” ever again. Certainly this news will sadden “RHOBH” fans but we have to respect Gigi’s wishes.
