The Scream film franchise ranks up there as one of the top horror film franchises of all time. Fans should also be aware that a sequel to Scream is on the way. The sequel to Scream has been officially announced, and filming will begin this summer.

Paramount Pictures and Spyglass have announced that a new sequel is in the works and it’s coming soon! The studios stated on Thursday that a sequel to the new picture had been approved. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who directed Radio Silence, will return to direct the film, while James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick will co-write the screenplay once again. Kevin Williamson, the franchise’s creator and writer for the first four films, is back as an executive producer.

It’s unclear which cast members will return at this time. Courteney Cox and Neve Campbell might reprise their roles as Gale Weathers and Sidney Prescott, respectively. David Arquette’s Dewey is regrettably no longer with us. Melissa Barrera’s Sam, Jenna Ortega’s Tara, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown’s Meeks twins all made it through the current film.
