Claressa Shields is touted as the greatest female boxer of all time. Earlier this month she made it clear that she has no intention of ever facing off against Jake Paul in a boxing match. Shields also claimed she would knock Paul out with just a jab.
Last year, Shields squared off against Abigail Montes during a featured bout on the 2021 PFL Championship main card. It marked her second MMA fight and Shields lost via split decision. She is now 1-1 in the world of MMA.
Naturally, Jake Paul trolled her after that. There was also a rumor that all of his matches going forward will have a “no knockout” clause as part of his fight contracts. Shields ripped Paul for that as well.
Shields even had Jake Paul on her boxing bucket list as well. In a rare scene, Jake Paul recently spoke in an interview where he paid tribute to the greatest female boxers in history by delivering a speech. In it, he mentioned Claressa Shields, seemingly squashing their beef for good.
“Today is about Amanda and Katie, the two best female fighters in the world right now,” said Paul. “They deserve this stage, they deserve this historic payday and they deserve to settle who is the pound-for-pound best, which is why I’m excited to see this fight, for real. But it’s also about Ann Wolfe, Christy Martin, Laila Ali, Mia St. John, and many other legendary boxers who helped laid the foundation for these ladies to be sitting here today. It’s about Claressa Shields, Mikaela Mayer, Alycia Baumgardner, and other amazing professionals currently in the sport. And most of all, it’s about the future young women and girls all over the world who will see April 30th as a moment that made the impossible possible.”
Claressa Shields couldn’t believe Jake Paul knocked out Tyron Woodley as well. It remains to be seen whether Claressa Shields will be open to burying the hatchet with Jake Paul or not.
