Whoopi Goldberg has been in some hot water lately after controversial remarks the comedian made on The View. Goldberg said that the Holocaust was not about race. An immediate backlash from fans ultimately led to Whoopi being suspended from the show.

The two weeks off were announced by ABC before Monday’s episode of the daytime gab fest. ABC said that Whoopi’s apology wasn’t enough. The network wanted Goldberg to take time to reflect on her mistake and the impact of what she said.

According to the New York Post, Whoopi Goldberg’s co-hosts on The View are upset with the decision to suspend the star. Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar, and Ana Navarro are furious over the decision. Navarro, a regular guest host, defended Goldberg.

“I love Whoopi Goldberg. I love ‘The View. This was an incredibly unfortunate incident. Whoopi is a lifelong ally to the Jewish community. She is not an anti-Semite, period. I am sad. And I have nothing else to say.”

Some believed that ABC overreacted with their suspension of Whoopi Goldberg. The network is standing firm in its stance. Whoopi’s two-week suspension will stand.

We’ll see what Whoopi Goldberg has to say when she returns to the view in a couple of weeks. Until then, her co-hosts will carry the load. ABC is hoping Whoopi comes back with a renewed attitude and a contrite understanding of her mistake.
